- Despite considerable improvement in cancer treatments, brain metastases are still challenging daily practice in oncology. Their biology remains largely unknown with limited data obtained from brain metastatic samples. Here, using metastatic samples of three different cancer types-breast cancer, melanoma and lymphoma-we aimed to identify a common genomic signature related to metastatic localizations in the brain. - Source: PubMed

Serine protease inhibitor Kazal type 5 (SPINK5) is implicated as a tumor suppressor in head and neck cancers, yet its role in laryngeal cancer progression and metabolic reprogramming remains unclear. This study aimed to define SPINK5's function and molecular mechanism in laryngeal cancer progression. - Source: PubMed

Sun JianingHe WudanSun ShanshanMa DijiangFang Lili - Many biomarkers have been evaluated as potential early detection markers for ovarian cancer. Better understanding of factors associated with inter-individual variation in circulating concentrations of these biomarkers is useful for optimizing their clinical utility for early detection. The study objective was to characterize the associations of sociodemographic-, lifestyle-, and health-related factors in relation to circulating ovarian biomarker concentrations in cancer-free women. - Source: PubMed

Akonde MaxwellGraybill Whitney SpannuthClay-Gilmour AlyssaZhang JiajiaAlberg Anthony J - Alzheimer's disease (AD) biomarkers in plasma and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) are useful for disease diagnosis, prognosis, risk assessment and monitoring therapy response, as well as for uncovering altered disease pathways. Previously, we and others cloned a novel gene, KLK6, which encodes a serine protease of the kallikrein family. The protein (hK6) is highly expressed in the brain, spinal cord and cerebellum. - Source: PubMed

Chatanaka Miyo KSoosaipillai AntoninusCano AmandaOrellana AdelinaBoada MercèPrassas IoannisMorató XavierDiamandis Eleftherios P - Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major global health concern due to its high incidence and mortality rates. Understanding the underlying mechanisms of CRC proliferation, invasion, and metastasis is crucial for developing effective therapeutic strategies. Circular RNAs have emerged as important players in cancer development by regulating various cellular processes. N7-methylguanosine (m7G) modification has been shown to have important roles in gene expression regulation. In this study, we investigated the role of and its interaction with METTL1-mediated m7G modification in CRC development. We found that knocking down inhibited CRC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Further analyses revealed that interacts with METTL1 and regulates m7G modification levels in CRC cells. experiments showed that the combined application of knockdown and METTL1 knockdown achieved better tumor inhibitory effect. Our findings provide insights into the mechanism of CRC progression and present potential therapeutic targets for the treatment of CRC. - Source: PubMed
