- Nanozyme offers promising alternatives to natural enzymes, but has poor aqueous stability and aggregation, which limit their practical applications. In this work, a polyethylene glycol (PEG)-modulated short hexagonal-Co-nanozyme was synthesized via co-precipitation methods to address these limitations. Different PEG molecular weights (2000-8000) were evaluated, and scanning electron microscope (SEM) imaging and dynamic light scattering (DLS) results confirmed that PEG 6000 at 10% w/w produced uniform hexagonal particles, non-aggregates, well-dispersed with an excellent particle size distribution (PSD), and aqueous stability. The morphological, crystallographic, and phase structure analysis supported by SEM, PSD, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), seleced area electron diffraction (SAED), and XRD. Surface area, porosity, and chemical composition by AFM, BET, and FTIR. Additionally, the surface state, surface charge and colloidal stability by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and zetapotential by DLS. The optimized nanozyme exhibited strong peroxidase activity with a low = 20.77 µM ( 0.046 µM/s). Under the optimized conditions of TMB, nanozyme (pH 4.0, 55 °C) and 10 min reaction time, the system enabled sensitive colorimetric detection of HO (limit of detection [LOD] = 0.79 µM, limit of quantification [LOQ] = 2.4 µM, linear range 1-20 µM) and dopamine (LOD = 0.86 µM, LOQ = 2.63 µM, linear range 2.5-25 µM). The interference studies confirmed high selectivity, while spiked assays achieved recoveries between 105 to 116% with RSD % below 5%. These findings establish PEG-modulated Co-MOF as a stable, sensitive, and versatile platform for next-generation sensing. - Source: PubMed

Sethi SantoshRathod Virendra Kisan - Large language models (LLMs) are enticing in their promise to support data visualization (Vis) through faster and simpler workflows for data prep, analysis, and visualization creation. Yet LLMs are notoriously error-prone and not built for data visualization tasks. Few studies have explored LLM adoption among Vis practitioners. To fill this gap, we conducted semi-structured interviews with members of the Data Visualization Society, a global community of data visualization designers. Our findings show that Vis designers actively use LLMs for both creative and technical aspects of the visualization process. A new visualization workflow is emerging, a process we call vibe analysis, analogous to vibe coding. Some key challenges raised by participants parallel those of vibe coding, while others are Vis-specific, like gaps in Vis knowledge and chart verification. This work opens up opportunities for research combining LLM-mediated work with Vis tools that incorporate data visualization guidance, constraints, and best practices. - Source: PubMed

Zavaleta-Monestel EstebanMora-Jimenez JeaustinArguedas-Chacon Sebastian - Black men who have sex with men (MSM) continue to experience disparate rates of HIV infection compared to other MSM despite advances in HIV prevention tools. Oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is an effective method of reducing risk of acquiring HIV when taken as prescribed, yet studies suggest Black MSM are less likely to adhere and persist on oral PrEP compared to other MSM. Existing research suggests psychosocial and structural factors impede the ability of Black MSM to adhere and persist on PrEP. As such, Project Adhere sought to better understand the relationship between psychosocial and structural factors, PrEP adherence, and persistence. Project Adhere was an observational study of 69 Black MSM in Ending the HIV Epidemic jurisdictions, tracking participants' PrEP use and various psychosocial and structural factors for six months. The study found substance use was significantly associated with lower PrEP adherence. These findings suggest a need for interventions that assess and assist Black MSM with substance use to improve PrEP adherence and persistence. Additionally, further research is needed to determine the impacts of psychosocial and structural factors on PrEP adherence and persistence in this population. - Source: PubMed

Whitfield Darren LCaldwell JacEdwards O WinslowMammadli TuralChandler Cristian JSullivan PatrickJones Jeb - To explore the risk factors for pathological upgrading after cervical conization in patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 1 (CIN1). A retrospective cohort study was conducted. A total of 1 416 CIN1 patients who underwent cervical conization in Jiangxi Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2021 to December 2023 were enrolled. According to whether the postoperative pathology was upgraded, they were divided into the pathological upgrading group (156 cases) and the pathological non-upgrading group (1 260 cases). The clinical data of the two groups were collected and compared, and the independent risk factors of pathological upgrading were screened by univariate analysis and multivariate binary logistic regression analysis. Based on binary logistic regression, a nomogram was constructed to predict the individualized probability of postoperative pathological escalation in CIN1 patients. Among the 1 416 CIN1 patients diagnosed preoperatively, the postoperative pathological upgrade rate was 11.02% (156/1 416). Univariate analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences in the proportions of Thin-prep cytologic test (TCT) infection history in the past 5 years, TCT examination results>low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL), the number of lesions involved quadrants >2, and cervical biopsy pathology ≥CIN1 between the pathological upgrading group and the pathological non-upgrading group (all <0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that TCT results >LSIL (=4.017, 95%: 2.375-6.791; <0.001), the number of involved quadrants >2 (=1.818, 95%: 1.257-2.627; =0.001) were the independent risk factors for pathological upgrading after CIN1 surgery. The nomogram model was constructed based on the above two independent factors. When the patient had the two high-risk features of TCT results >LSIL and the number of involved quadrants >2, the total score reached the full score of 15.72, and the maximum risk of pathological upgrading was 41%. For patients with colposcopic biopsy confirmed CIN1, if TCT results>LSIL and/or lesion involved quadrants>2, the risk of missed high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) is significantly increased. Therefore, more active diagnosis or treatment strategies should be taken for these high-risk patients. In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to colposcopy in postmenopausal women to reduce the missed diagnosis of HSIL. - Source: PubMed
