- Gastric cancer (GC) exhibits marked epidemiological differences between European (EUR) and East Asian (EAS) populations, with significantly higher incidence rates in EAS. Circulating proteins represent promising drug targets; however, most proteomic studies have focused primarily on EUR ancestry, leaving EAS-specific targets largely underexplored. This study aims to identify ancestry-specific plasma protein targets for GC using Mendelian randomization (MR). - Source: PubMed

Establishing robust causal associations and mapping them to specific effector genes and tissues is essential for identifying mechanistically informed therapeutic targets. - Source: PubMed

Wang MuqiZhang MengDeng HuilingZhang YufengLiu ChenruiChen YuanZhang ChutingZhang WenJia XiaoliDang ShuangsuoLi Yaping - Aging-related retinal degeneration and vision loss have been severely affecting the elderly worldwide. Previously, we showed that the mA reader YTHDF2 is a negative regulator for dendrite development and protection of retinal ganglion cells (RGC) in mice. Here, we further show that conditional ablation of Ythdf2 protects the retina from RGC dendrite shrinking and vision loss in aged mice. Additionally, we identify Hspa12a and Islr2 as the potential YTHDF2 target mRNAs mediating these effects. Together, our results indicate that the mA reader YTHDF2 regulates retinal degeneration caused by aging, which might provide important therapeutic potential for developing new treatment approaches against aging-related vision loss. - Source: PubMed

Niu FuguiLong GaoxinZhang JianYu JunJi Sheng-Jian - Perioperative neurocognitive disorders (PND) refer to neurocognitive abnormalities during perioperative period, which are a great challenge for elderly patients and associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Our studies showed that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) regulate mitochondrial function and aging-related pathologies in the aged hippocampus after anesthesia, and lncRNAs are associated with multiple neurodegenerations. However, the regulatory role of lncRNAs in PND-related pathological processes remains unclear. - Source: PubMed
